SoCo Spring Celebration Schedule (Saturday, March 24th)



Come join us for our Spring Celebration this Saturday (rain or shine!). In addition to a great selection of California grown produce, see the great schedule of activities below. 


Giveaways
    • 9:00am-2:00pm Front Porch Pops offers free samples of Spring-y flavored popsicles, including Sweet Limeade
    • 9:30am-11:30am  Chef Bridget from Fixtures Living hosts a Sourcing Saturday, where she takes participants through the SoCo Farmers Market and teaches them ways to make the most of the Farmers' Market shopping experience. Sign up to learn her indispensable tips on preparing your Farmers Market finds!
    Kids Activities
    • 9:00am-2:00pm  Saige Nicole will have a caricature artist by Couture-Paintings, and will have fun spring nail polish painting with non-toxic Piggy Paint for the little girls!
    • 10:30am-12:00pm  Author Leslie Ryan will do a reading of her book, I'm Flippish, and will then sign and sell books. One lucky attendee will win a free, autographed copy.
    • 12:00pm-1:30pm Marcie Taylor (@suburbanmama on Twitter), Blogger and Book Editor from OC FAMILY Magazine will host story time, games and book giveaways at our Kiddie Corner.
    Cooking Demos
    • 11:00am-11:30am  Chef Raya Belna will host an in depth demo, and teach you her raw, vegan tricks of the trade, for all things organic and farm fresh
    • 12:00pm-12:30pm Chef Carlos of Taco Maria gourmet food truck will host a cooking demo, teaching how to highlight the fantastic freshness of Spring produce.
    • 1:00pm-1:30pm  Anais Tangie will teach you how to live the farmers' market lifestyle through her cooking demo preparing Nutritious+Delicious foods sourced at the market.

    SoCo Farmers Market Newsletter 03-08-12


    Four Course Brunch
    THIS SATURDAY ONLY! Farmers + Food Trucks = SoCo Farmers' Market Feast! SoCoFM presents Chef Joe Youkhans from Tasting Spoon and Chef Carlos Salgados from Taco Maria who will be making brunch using our market’s farm fresh ingredients. The feast happens Saturday at 11:30am. Seating is limited to 50 tickets. To purchase tickets ($45) - click here.
      
    Peakaboo I see New!

    We welcome Bautista Creek Farms from Riverside County and their amazing locally grown crops, including living lettuce, tasty citrus, rainbow colored carrots and the alien looking Romanesco cauliflower. Your kids will love it! Read why Shelby Barone’s (OC Family blog) kids did. Her daughter had almost eaten all of it by the time they got home! She tells you how to cook it as well.

    Spring Celebration - March 17th
    Spring into Spring the weekend of March 17th as our organization puts on our Spring Celebration at both the SoCo Farmers' Market (Saturday) and the Newport Beach Farmers' Market (Sunday). We celebrate the new season with new farmers and new fresh fruits and veggies. We’ll have cooking & educational demos, face painters, kids activities, community booths and more.     10:30am (Story Time)
    Marcie Taylor (@suburbanmama), blogger and book editor from OC FAMILY Magazine will host 
    story time, games and book giveaways at our Kiddie Corner from 10:30am-noon.

    11:00am (Cooking Demo)
    Chef Raya Belna will host an in depth demo teaching you her raw vegan tricks of the trade for all things organic and farm fresh. Be sure to see her demo and get tickets to her upcoming event Spring Equinox Organic Dinner

    12:00pm (More Kid's Events)
    Granola Babies, kid's store located in The OC Mart Mix, will present various activities for the little ones.

    What’s in Season? Check out this seasonal guide so you always know what the freshest of the fresh produce is, and when fruit is at its sweetest. You’ll be able to taste the difference, trust us.

    Teach Me How to BBQ! Learn out to BBQ from an expert! On March 31st (10:30am), Chef Chris Rocke from Rancho-a-GoGo will be teaching a BBQ class using farm fresh meats from our local rancher, Da-Le Ranch.
